Swallow
04:08
|
|||
Look at the morning we’ve had.
It’s insipid but not that sad.
It’s just a sobering trip that serendipity is all
that protects us from all this bad.
Juniper, cypress and beech
echo voices beyond our reach
in a bewildering void, facing basic choices at a loss.
Tell me, what could we possibly teach?
There is no truth, there is just conjecture.
There is no city, there is only architecture.
There’s no return, there is no salvation.
There’s no existence, there is only imitation.
So, if the opposite of pleasure is pain and fear,
well, then, I guess it hasn’t been a pleasant year,
so please excuse me if I have another beer—
it’s all a bit too hard to swallow,
but I promise I won’t let it swallow me.

Sunday Song
05:12
|
|||
As the hour of praise approaches
I’m unsettled by the sun’s unhurried crawl
because my heroes have no meaning and
I’m more afraid to falter than to fall.
Is this weariness a sickness?
Or a weapon, such as suicide or spite?
Or just the desperate disillusion
of a headless mutiny of faithless knights?
At times I’ve had no spirit left to write.
My vote is only vanity.
I’m driven mad by dreams I don’t deserve.
My emperor’s irrelevant.
I’m sick of seeking someone else to serve.
Is my apathy a privilege?
Or an aperture for someone else’s light?
Or just a rational reaction
to a market-based approach to wrong and right?
At times I’ve had no spirit left to write.
Sunday songs come in twos:
lazy, easy; gloomy, blue.
Either way’s a waste it’s true—
but there are worse things I could do.

Dogma and the Supernatural Florence, Italy
In the year 2020 A.D., in an ancient land steeped in history, the six primary elements joined forces to express through harmony the essence of their existence. They came together in the name of humanity, illuminating the shrouded spirit of the earthly and the transcendent. These elements, so delicately balanced, yield a sound that belongs to the realm of the supernatural. ... more
